Prompt Stash is built so that your data stays yours. This policy explains what that means, and it matches the data-usage disclosures on our Chrome Web Store listing.
The short version
Prompt Stash does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your data. Your prompts live in your browser's own storage. The extension has no analytics, no tracking, and no remote code.
What Prompt Stash stores, and where
- Your prompts, folders, and settings are saved in your browser's extension storage
(chrome.storage). If you have Chrome sync enabled, Chrome itself syncs that storage between your signed-in browsers — Prompt Stash never sees or routes that data.
- Prompt Stash has no backend server. We never receive your prompts, the text you type into
any website, or any usage information.
Permissions, and why
- storage — to save your prompt library locally in the browser.
- activeTab + the listed AI sites (chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com, claude.ai, gemini.google.com,
perplexity.ai) — so the launcher can appear on those pages and insert a prompt into the composer when you click it. Prompt Stash reads and writes only the composer you act on; it does not read, log, or transmit the contents of those pages.
When data leaves your browser
Only in two cases, both initiated by you:
- Pro license check. If you enter a Pro license key, the extension makes a single request to
the Gumroad License API to verify that key. Only the license key is sent — never your prompts. No request is made unless you enter a key.
- AI prompt enhancer (Pro). If you use the optional ✨ Enhance feature, the prompt text you
choose to enhance is sent to the configured AI provider to rewrite it, and the result is returned to you. This happens only when you click Enhance, only on the text you select, and the result is not stored or transmitted anywhere else.
Third parties
No advertising, attribution, or analytics SDKs. No cookies or device identifiers. The only outbound requests are the user-initiated license check and the optional enhancer described above.
Children
Prompt Stash does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change with it.
